Photographer's Note

This is the little church Marmelos. Marmelos is a small village of Alandroal, not far from Terena. It's not exactly on the way, we just go there if we really want to.
This is one of the most typical and unique churches in the area. It dates from the 16th century and it’s officially called Church of Santiago Maior. However, in the area it’s known as Church of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios. In what concerns architecture, it’s considered a good example of the rural architecture of the region. The three bells in front really make the difference and let us identify it.
Generally in August or September there’s a feast, the Feast of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios.
