Photographer's Note

The Trumpeter’s Tower at the top of the old town hall was once used as a watchtower to warn of approaching danger. Brasov was founded by Saxons and this clocktower was built in the 13th century. The Saxons settled in Romania between the mid 12th century up until the late Modern Age (specifically mid 19th century) when it ceased being part of the Austro Hungarian Empire and became a part of Romania in 1918. The town hall overlooks Council Square (Piata Sfatului).

Hello Chris,
I like the point of view and animated atmosphere. The curved lines in the pavement make a good lead-line drawing the viewer into the scene. Agreeable warm/cool tonal contrasts and very good sharpness.

Lovely saturated colours, I love the inky sky. The people give image some more interst and context. I wonder what the small toy vehicles are there for.

Bonjour Chris,

J'aime beaucoup la construction de cette image. Le regard suit naturellement la courbe du banc où les gens sont assis et le cadrage vertical accompagne à merveille la tour au sommet du bâtiment.

Hello Chris,
This is a very charming town hall with a beautiful clock tower. Its location on the central square in Brasov makes it perhaps the most photographed building of the city.
With its light coloured facade and red tiles it stands out well against the plain blue sky.
Did you also take a picture of it from on top of the hill?
