Photographer's Note

Hallo everyone,

I took this picture in the Bucegi mountains, from behind the "Omu" chalet at about 2500 m. alt. The valley in the picture is called "Valea Gaura". The trail crosses this valley and leads to one of the most pictoresque regions in Romania, where the village of Bran is located (and the Dracula Castle). This spectacle of the sun "dying gloriously in flames" was one of the major goals of my trip to the mountains. I expected the sunset to be clear, with no clouds, but the approaching front made the show even better. Clouds started to rise from the valley driven by an increasing wind. They eventually engulfed the whole mountain making it more difficult to photograph the sunrise next morning and eventually brought snow. Here is my picture of the sunrise, taken at freezing temperatures, during a gap in the clouds.
I almost missed this photo because of a Chamois (mountain goat) that I followed to photograph, right behind the hill in the right side of this picture (in the shade of this hill). You can see a picture of this chamois here, on Trek Nature. I hope I was able to share at least this tiny part of the beauty of our mountains. Enjoy it and feel free to be harsh with your critiques! I can bear with it. Thanks a lot!
