Although it is now more famous for its clocktower, at one time it was an old Saxon Church. It was built in the 13th century. Also known as the Evangelical Church, it is a Protestant church, so you can rest assured it was constructed by the long gone German (Saxon) settlers that once dominated this area. It's also the last Saxon church remaining in the town. The name of the town is derived from German 'Rose' ('Ras' in Romanian).

The election poster at right is for Victor Ponta, the unsuccessful oppositon political party nomination to Klaus Iohannis, who was successful in his bid for president of Romania and was appointed on 21 December 2014.
