Oblivion Temple on the Angel Island in Morii ( Mill's) Lake , Bucharest, Romania. One of the larger scale communist architectural /landscaping works ,the Mill's Lake(Lacul Morii) is the largest artificial lake in Bucharest, by surface.Completed sometime in 1986 it regularizes the flow of the Dambovita river and replaces marshlands with a reservoir to avoid flooding and insalubrious flow. This forgotten piece of architecture is situated on the so called Angel's island- an artificial island connected to the shore by a bridge and an abandoned dock. This particular structure was to become an open-air stage for musical performances -but sits in its strangely shaped ruin form as a testament to times passed and things that were not to be. Some claim there was some (cultural) activity years ago but by the looks of the place it's long been deserted. Notice the Neo-communist style of architecture, that borrows and perverts classical style -heavy square columns and a dome of sorts, complete with the osculus (the opening traditionally found in ancient domed temples, as the one in Rome, that was supposedly a way for gods to access the interior- along with some rain or sun rays..so a godhole).A Temple of Oblivion, a setting Sun, a deserted Angel's Island where some burly folks wash their horses(!),graffiti... happy secluded/forgotten place corona-walks, folks and wear your masks!

I particularly like the way the sunburst light rays contrasts with the damage and graffiti. When I initially looked at the picture I spotted the bottle in the foreground and thought it should be removed. After seeing the damage and graffiti everywhere else I think it actually adds to the sense of dereliction.
