Photographer's Note

This is public transportation in Iasi- an electric tram that dates from the 60's but masterfully restored to near-mint condition and running fine. Observe the two stacked front lights and the unique (for the current era...) profile of the cab.
About the perspective- yes it's not "artistic" but..necessary. Remember when I told you to be careful about how fragile compact megazooms are? well- this is just before the grand repairs on my little travel workhorse hx 60 that saw my entire lens and focus system replaced because of a light bump of the extended lens barrel into some door frame as I recall. Not a big deal but the internals were scrambled and it could barely focus, could not retract completely without a helping finger smack and perspective was wrong. Here I corrected without sacrificing information (no zoom/crop )- all this to better show the nature and amount of distortion the optical axis can possibly have. A new kind of tilt and shift, if you will- with tiny megazoom lenses slightly bent and deformed. Why don't manufacturers all jump to the occasion? A compact camera with a tilt and shift, what do you say, Trek Earth ?? Is it a nice idea? Do we want it in large numbers for low prices? Hear me, Ricoh, Olympus, Pentax, Panasonic, Canon, Nikon, Fuji, and anyone else that can do cheap and good if volumes are enough..
