Photographer's Note

I guess the thumbnail of the photo I'm posting tonight is not very inviting but I believe the shot itself is pretty nice. I liked the contrasts I tried to capture here.
First there's the strong contrast between the lights and shadows. The sun was shining as bright as it ever did or at least it felt so. It was a clear summer day and the afternoon sun was burning everything around. In the shade the air was not only breathable but the slight breeze was making the day enjoyable.
Then there's the contrast between the yellow and the dark ducklings: a color contrast between yellows and whites on one hand, and browns and blacks on the other.
Last, but not least, there's the social contrast, the behavioral diversity in this group of baby ducks. I was lucky to capture so many different reactions and attitudes in this small group that I almost believe they’re human beings.

What I'm actually showing is a scene of daily life in a peasant family in southeastern Romania: one of the meals the ducklings were served every day and their immediate reaction. I left out the humans.

I hope those of you who were curious enough to access the page behind that not so inviting thumbnail like the effect of that mouse click.
