Photographer's Note

Z v e k i r ...

I was driving my wife to the hairdresser, my attention was drawn to the zvekir at the front door of the house.
The zvekir is a metal circle attached to the front door instead of a bell, made in the shape of a ring or a ring. Today, the zvekir can be found mainly as a souvenir, of a decorative nature. It is made mainly of iron, but can also be made of other alloys, such as brass.
It was customary to knock on the door three times before entering. The notion of banging a ring on the door was used as a metaphor for the arrival of a guest in many sevdalinkas.
Zvekir is a beautiful decoration on the door, it is useful when the electricity goes out and the bell does not work.
