Photographer's Note

Serbian Orthodox Cathedral Church in Sremski Karlovci is dedicated to the Translation of Relics of Saint Nicholas (22 May), and it was erected in 1762. It is considered to be one of the masterpieces of Serbian baroque. The icons in the iconostasis were painted by famous Serbian artists Zaharije Orfelin (1726-1785), Teodor Kračun (1730-1781) and Paja Jovanović (1859-1957). The church houses the relics of Saint Arsenius of Srem (?-1266), the second archbishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and the wonder-working icon of the Holy Virgin Mary of Bezdin.
