Guarding the fortress 2

Belgrade fortress Kalemegdan is famous for its secret underground passages which some say lead far into the center of the town. The fortress date to medival times and the statue of the "Beogradski Pobednik" on the top is build after the WW1 in 1918. "Beogradski Pobednik" in translation means "The Belgrade victor" and it became a symbol of Belgrade. It stands there as a guardian of the city, wearing a sabre in one hand and a bird in the other. This is so called "Postcard view", which you can see on a lot of greeting cards from Belgrade. Lovers stand hand by hand underneath the monument, enjoying the autumn sunshine and a beautiful view. The best view to the town and its two rivers, Sava and Danube, is from the point of the victor. Here is that beatiful view .
