Photographer's Note

This beautiful morning I have lucky, that I see lake and island in fog. The photo shows Lake Bled island "Blejski Otok", Slovenia's only natural island and one of the most beautiful places of Europe. With 99 stairs leading to the top of the island, St Mary’s Church, Wishing bell it is one of the most romantic places to get married. Transport to and from the island is provided by pletnas. (Pletna is the slovenian name of this small boat.)

The lake is 2120 m long, from 180 - 500 m wide and the deepest point would come to 30 meters. To walk around it is approximately 7 km. The lake is tectonic in origin, but was created 14000 years ago by a glacier that slid from the Alps into the valley. On the way it created this beautiful lake. There is 19 different species of fish in this lake, making it attractive for fisherman. You will find that swimming as well as rowing is possible almost everywhere. Over the winter the lake freezes and one can go on skates to the island.

Good morning Denis -

This is an excellent image! The church and it's steeple sticking out of the mist gives thi image a mysterious feel. DOF and composition are right on as well as the exposure.

Hello, Denis. A very beautiful image of that church that seems to be floodlit. The mist and the sunlight create a very beautiful and romantic atmosphere that fits very well here and allow the church building to stand out nicely against the background of the hazy forest.

In Slovenia can be seen many beautiful places, this is one of them. The lake Bled is gorgeous. You have captured very nice moment, while the fog is all around.

Hello Denis,
the church seems to be lighted up by the little soft sunlight filtered within the fog. an excellent capture nevertheless. your shot is immensely tempting, and i have to visit this place very soon.
