Chapel of Santa Catalina, a photo from Cadiz, Andalucia

Photographer's Note

Today I present this building with history, is the chapel dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria located inside the Castle of Santa Catalina de la Ciudad de Cadiz, and this castle on another occasion.

The Castillo de Santa Catalina is a fortress of Cadiz is located in La Caleta and advanced into the sea on a breakwater. It was built against the will of the people of Cadiz at the end of the sixteenth century after the plans of engineer Rojas. Pentagonal plant, draws attention to the points that star way out to sea.

It is now used for cultural events, such as those related to the Scope Film Festival.

After the Anglo-Dutch assault in 1596, Philip II ordered Cristobal de Rojas to build a defensive fortress through a Royal Decree on October 25, 1597. The architect died before completing his project.
The final work was not as ambitious as projected.

During the reign of Charles II built the chapel and the sacristy in 1693. This chapel is dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria and the Immaculate Conception.

Carlos III in 1769 made him a military prison personalities. In it were liberals and American independence, and in the twentieth century some involved in the coup of February 23 1981.El Ministry of Defence failed to make use of the castle in 1991.

Chapel of Santa Catalina Castle .. This site remained banished from New Spain the leader of the Independence of Mexico Mariano Abasolo, who after being captured will spare his life by sending him to purge the sentence of 10 years in prison to die at the 5 years in the arms of his beloved wife, Lady Dona Manuela de Rojas Taboada, at the age of 32 years on April 14, 1816. He is remembered in Mexico as a hero of the country even though his life to save other leaders betrayed and betraying the cause of independence.

Una foto llena de fuerza gracias a la calidad de los colores, los fuertes contrastes y la saturación ofrecen una imagen perfecta, que nos da buena cuenta de esta capilla, muy buen punto de vista, ensalzando los volumenes y el grafismo de la construcción...me gusta mucho!!

this is a fantastic example of the beauty of Andalusian architecture.The church is well-captured from a good POV and angle.And these colors are simply delightful.So warm and vivid.Very good work my friend.
Do you use any kind of polarizer filter?because the sky is really beautiful on your pictures.

Hola Ángel,
la arquitectura blanca de la capilla brilla bajo una fuerte luz de Andalucía en primavera. Y precisamente esa luz es la que da una gran potencia a los colores, que con su buena saturación crean una alta calidad cromática en tu composición.
El encuadre escogido funciona muy bien, y aprovecha el bonito grafismo de los elementos.

c'est simple et très pur, très propre. Le cadrage un peu juste, j'aurais cadré un rien plus bas. Le bleu du ciel est spectaculaire. Un très bonne exposition des blancs.

Encantadora imagen con esta sencilla capilla, que en esta buena composicion, resulta muy atrayente con ese grupo de palmeras y ese soberbio azul del cielo tan intenso, un conjunto con mucha armonia.
Su gran luminosidad, buena nitidez y sobre todo ese atractivo colorido la hace ideal.

This almost has a Wild West Spanish Mission in northern Mexico South Western USA look to it. A deep blue sky with excellent sharpness & nice warm cold color contrasts between the blue & yellow red brickwork. Tfs!
