A little corner in my city, a photo from Barcelona, Catalogne

Photographer's Note

The Square of Sant Agustí Vell, who takes the name of the former convent of Sant Agustí, connects the Carders street with the "Portal Nou" and the "Basses de Sant Pere". In the latter section there had been located the ponds of the former mills and textile facilities that were dismantled during the 19th century. The square has a medieval arcades part, though most of the buildings are of the XVIIIth and XIXth centuries. In the number 3 of the Portal Nou street there is a wooden girder with an inscription that shows the date of 1699.

This small square is a delicious and very calm corner, which I found during a photographic walk along the Neighborhood of Santa Caterina and the Born, during a sunny morning of December. The enormous trees were giving me a nice game of light and shades, and the terraces were inviting me to take a cup of coffe.

La plaza de Sant Agustí Vell (San Agustín Viejo), que toma el nombre del antiguo convento de Sant Agustí, enlaza la calle Carders con el “Portal Nou” y las “Basses de Sant Pere”. En este último tramo habían estado ubicadas las balsas de los antiguos molinos e instalaciones textiles que fueron desmanteladas durante el siglo XIX. La plaza tiene una parte medieval porticada, aunque la mayor parte de los edificios son de los siglos XVIII y XIX. En el núm. 3 del carrer Portal Nou hay una viga de madera con una inscripción que lleva la fecha de 1699.

Esta pequeña plaza es un rincón delicioso y muy tranquilo, que encontré durante un paseo fotográfico a lo largo del Barrio de Santa Caterina y el Born, en una mañana soleada de Diciembre. Los enormes árboles me regalaban un bonito juego de luz y sombras, y las terrazas invitaban a tomar un café.

non sembra Barcelona per il momento di relax e di pace del momento senza traffico convulso.
Molto ben gestito l'equilibrio tra ombre e luci, colori naturali, taglio dell'inquadratura molto piacevole.

you mentioned this is a section of your home city...just curious, have you ever met up with Juan (JFS) or other Spanairds for te meetings? For myself, i'm really the only west coast canadian! but it seems as if there are few TE members in or around Barcelona.
you've done fine work here with the lighting situation, which is by no means an easy thing.
my favorite part is the elegant lighting striking the trees, along with the overall atmosphere of the place.

Lovely shaded corner in town, Josep.
The light management is superb, no backlight-effect through branchs, and figures of people seem very sharp under dark parts of the image.

A charming scene of this street life shaded by lush trees, sure a good place to kill the time or for few drinks. What I like most is the postioning and color blend, the green is creating such good contrast to the almost all earth tone surrounding. Excellent pov, sharp and lively. Well done, TFS

dense the shadow of the small square created from the high trees with the people to enjoy their drink under it,especially the hot days of the Summer.
I like the play of the light and the shadows this sunny morning of December, with the capture of the colours and the light to are superb.

Que delicioso rincon has captado en esta preciosa composicion, rompe con la imagen que tenemos de las grandes ciudades, con su ruido y los muchos coches.
Ideal esos grandes arboles que te ofrecen ademas de belleza a la imagen, un bonito efecto de sombras y luces, la terraza se ve agradable para tomar una cerveza en estas tardes calurosas.
Magnifica la gestion de la luz e ideales los bonitos colores, la calle del fondo da una buena perspectiva.

You played well with the light & shade...exposure in such situations is extremely difficult, but you did well. While is picture is pleasant, I am missing a key focal point, something which would fix my eyes on & not allow it to roam around the picture. Other than that, well done!
