Situación
La batería de San Ramón se encuentra en la playa de el Playazo, cerca de la localidad de Rodalquilar, término municipal de Níjar, provincia de Almería, cerca de la carretera local que lleva de Rodalquilar a Las Negras.

Historia
Sus orígenes se remontan al reglamento de 1764 que ordenó su construcción. Fue proyectada por José Crame, evaluándose su coste en 200.000 reales de vellón, y siendo financiada por José Arias.

Durante la guerra de la Independencia quedó muy maltrecha, y desde entonces fue ocupada alternativamente por personas sin refugio y por los cuerpos de policía para la vigilancia de la costa, hasta que en 1875 fue enajenada por el Estado, y adquirida por un particular por 1.500 pesetas.

Descripción
Se trata de una batería para cuatro cañones cuya misión era vigilar el litoral comprendido entre el Cerrico Romero y la Cala de San Pedro, con cuya fortaleza cruzaba el fuego de su artillería.

Estado de conservación
Su estado de conservación es bueno, y se encuentra en fase avanzada de restauración.

Propiedad y uso
Es de propiedad privada.

Visitas
Al ser propiedad privada no es posible su visita, ni al fuerte ni a la finca que lo rodea limitando con la ZMT.

Protección
Bajo la protección de la Declaración genérica del Decreto de 22 de abril de 1949, y la Ley 16/1985 sobre el Patrimonio Histórico Español. En el año 1993 la Junta de Andalucía otorgó reconocimiento especial a los castillos de la Comunidad Autónoma de Andalucía.

Location
The battery of San Ramon is on the beach in the Playazo, near the town of Rodalquilar, municipality of Nijar, Almería province, near the road that leads Rodalquilar to Las Negras.

Under the protection of the general declaration of the Decree of April 22, 1949, and Law 16/1985 on Spanish Historical Heritage. In 1993 the Andalusian gave special recognition to the castles of the autonomous community of Andalusia.
