Lines game, a photo from Barcelona, Catalogne

Photographer's Note

As you can notice, the architecture of the W Hotel in Barcelona managed to fascinate me, and offered me many opportunities to take photos with risky framings.

In this case, I tried to catch the escape of its elegant lines, and at the same time the merger of the sky and the clouds with its glass facade in a few very photogenic reflections, by means of a strong low-angle shot that punished my cervical ones.

Como podéis notar, la arquitectura del Hotel W en Barcelona consiguió fascinarme, y me ofreció muchas oportunidades para tomar fotos con encuadres arriesgados.

En este caso, intenté captar la fuga de sus elegantes líneas, y al mismo tiempo la fusión del cielo y las nubes con su fachada de vidrio en unos reflejos muy fotogénicos, mediante un fuerte contrapicado que castigó mis cervicales.

Bien tiltée pour faire tout rentrer dans le cadre et donner encore plus de dynamisme à l'image

Hi Josep
A grand strong image. It has been composed well and draws the eye well into powerful zooming lines of perspective. Its an entirely different shot tilted to fine effect and echoes many strong repeated lines and curves in nice soft colors tones. The bright colors of long curve anchors the image and keep drawing the eyes to top end. Superb contrast and immense depth achieved with 3 D feel shot. Good observation and so well taken. Congrats. Well Josep,
you know i'm going to have to seek out and find this building if and when i visit Barcelona!
looks like there are so many angles and compositions to be had.
and yes, the cloudy but also blue sky is the best time to capture this blue beast of architecture.
its also good to capture these creative compo's as well as the classical ones.
the photo has style and grace.

Hola Josep.
Maravilloso el POV que has captado de este edificio, me encanta este juego de lineas rectas y curvas, las nubes y sus reflejos crean un fantastico efecto, en algun punto parece que las nubes estan pegadas a la fachada.
El color esta ideal y la magnifica nitidez permite recrearse en su visionado. Me gusta este marco, sencillo y elegante.
Espero contactar con vosotros, aunque ya lo he intentado sin resultado.

a beautiful and fascinating composition from a very special angle that makes the originality of the architecture even more impressive. The curve is marvellous. Una sinfonìa gràfica de azul muy interesante. Tu POV es estupendo !
Dificil pensar que hay gente viviendo o trabajando en la cima. Parece màs como una escultura gigantesca.

Hello Josep,

An artistic shot of from one of my favorite cities in the world. While riding a cable car over the harbor last Summer, I captured the exquisite architectural edifice from an entirely different vantage point (see the ws). Thanks to your note, I now know that it is the W Hotel. But what does the W stand for?

Hello Josep, so many things work well here in your photo. It is very artisitc. The chosen low point of view, and skewing the architecture on an angle. The reflection of the clouds in the modernistic glass structure, then the curves and the gorgeous duo tone colors. Superb,

This unique architecture on the building offer many strange angel, a skew looking upwards here, well collected.
Diff. blue variable tone mingle well with the light brown-baje color.

Tengo un pequeño problema en las vértebras cervicales, mirando hacia arriba a esta magnífica vista, que se ve un poco como una noria. La exposición es magistral. Las luces, los colores y la nitidez son excelentes. Bravo.

J'aime beaucoup la construction de l'image. Le bâtiment magnifique nous fait penser à une voile gonflée par le vent du large. Les couleurs sont très belles et les reflets des nuages dans les vitres fantastiques.

Hello Josep,

A very clever way of capturing this beautiful architecture in such an angle showing it as if it is curving. I like the way you have shown the lines and those little balconies look like an aerial cable cars. The reflection of the blue sky gives the building that lovely blue colors. Good sharp image with nice modern architecture.

Truly a POV which had tested your neck bones, but has presented us with a fine framing with the sweeping curve leading our eyes elegantly across the frame. Only two colours here, but they work so well in conjunction. The blue of the sky & the clouds reflects well on the glass facade. Very elegantly presented for a fine picture!

It is very interesting shot of modern architecture. The curve and row of balconies make perfect composition. The reflection of the clouds in the windows give the filling as if will be in the clouds.
