Photographer's Note

I took this photo of the Monastery of El Escorial during a stage of my trip from Robledo de Chavela towards Salamanca, after a familiar celebration.
I looked for a less classic visual angle of this magnificent architecture, while I was taking advantage of the deep perspective of this beautiful building, and of the good lighting of the morning sun, for to try to catch its majesty and its elegance.

Information Wikipedia: Known also as Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Monastery of San Lorenzo el Real, or, simply, as El Escorial, was designed in the second half of the 16th century by the king Philip II and his architect Juan Bautista of Toledo, though later there intervened Juan de Herrera, Juan de Mijares, Giovanni Battista Castello The Bergamasco and Francisco de Mora. The king conceived a great multifunctional, monastic and palatial complex that, formed by Juan Bautista of Toledo according to the paradigm of the Universal Trace, gave origin to the Herrerian style.

It was considered to be, from ends of the 16th century, the Eighth Marvel of the World, both for its size and functional complexity and for its huge symbolic value. An impressive work, of great monumental quality, not only is a building of perfect trace, but also an enormous receptacle of other arts.

Tomé esta foto del Monasterio de El Escorial durante una etapa de mi viaje desde Robledo de Chavela hacia Salamanca, después de una celebración familiar.
Busqué un ángulo visual menos clásico de esta magnífica arquitectura, aprovechando la profunda perspectiva de este bello edificio, y la buena iluminación del sol de la mañana, para intentar captar su majestuosidad y su elegancia.

Información Wikipedia: Conocido también como Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Monasterio de San Lorenzo El Real, o, sencillamente, como El Escorial, fue ideado en la segunda mitad del siglo XVI por el rey Felipe II y su arquitecto Juan Bautista de Toledo, aunque posteriormente intervinieron Juan de Herrera, Juan de Mijares, Giovanni Battista Castello El Bergamasco y Francisco de Mora. El rey concibió un gran complejo multifuncional, monacal y palaciego que, plasmado por Juan Bautista de Toledo según el paradigma de la Traza Universal, dio origen al estilo herreriano.

Fue considerado, desde finales del siglo XVI, la Octava Maravilla del Mundo, tanto por su tamaño y complejidad funcional como por su enorme valor simbólico. Su arquitectura marcó el paso del plateresco renacentista al clasicismo desornamentado. Obra ingente, de gran monumentalidad, no sólo es un edificio de perfecta traza, sino también un enorme receptáculo de las demás artes.

Ciao Josep,
L'andamento dell'albero nella parte superiore dell'immagine sembra seguire la diagonale del Monastero creando un effetto di grande equilibrio. Molto bello l'alternarsi di luce ed ombre che dà molto dinamismo, eccellenti i colori e la qualità in quest'immagine molto ben riuscita.

Muy bonita la imagen! Me encanta cómo se compone, con un buen corte diagonal de la gran fachada del monasterio que lleva a cabo la parte izquierda de la imagen y la luz, y el árbol con la pared de fondo del portal a la sombra! Muy interesante!

Ciao Josep,
l'ho riconosciuto subito L' Escorial.
Lo visitai nel lontano 1976 e feci delle foto molto belle in bianconero che prima o poi mi deciderò a scannerizzare e postarle su TE.
Molto lineare ed equilibrato il tuo scatto con una prospettiva e profondità accentuate dal taglio diagonale della inquadratura.

An excellent diagonal view of this monastery showing so many details in natural colors. The people animate the scene. The beautiful clear blue sky makes a nice background. Good idea to have the branches at the top which make a nice framing.

Bonjour mon ami
J'aime bien ce genre de cadrage en perspective latérale.
Le sol sert de réflecteur pour atténuer les ombres de l'édifice et ceci permet de comparer avec l'ombre de l'arbre qui est plus dense.
Une composition très intéressante.

Great long perspective with strong vertical and diagonal lines. Very well detailed image with great depth and superb pov. I like in particular how the lush tree fills the negative space nicely to provide the natural framing. Light and color tones are excellent with effective human touch to make it lively just to trigger the eyes. A delightful architecture in a so pleasing environment. Well taken. Congrats

Hola Josep, interesante composición con esta perspectiva de esta fachada del monasterio arropada por este arbol en sombra que le dá un poco de gracia a la sobria arquitectura del edificio, el fondo también contribuye a ese fin, muy buen encuadre y buena pespectiva, muy buen e interesante trabajo amigo mio, mis felicitaciones. Me gusta mucho como has jugado con las diagonales en esta composicion y con el efecto de las luces y sombras, con lo cual has logrado que la seria y repetitiva fachada del monasterio, se vea esplendida, tambien has creado una magnifica perspectiva con las montañas al fondo.
Muy buena gestion de la luz, con un colorido suaave y natural muy hermoso.
Muy bonito trabajo amigo mio, me gusta y realza el monumento.

tuve la suerte de visitar El Escorial hace unos 48 anos..... y bien que recuerdo ese dia.
Me parece muy acertado la posicion que tomaste para tomar esta foto, indudablemente la perspectiva ayuda a comprender la magnitud de esta obra de Architectura.
Perdi el fin de semana ya que tuvimos visitas.... ando atrasado.
