The garden of bifurcate paths.., a photo from Girona, Catalogne

Girona,16 de Mayo de 2008.Ya sé que el título lo he tomado prestado de Borges,y que por mucho sendero que se bifurque en la foto no hay jardin a la vista,pero lo cierto es que la ciudad entera parecía un jardín,era el Dia de las flores.Las escaleras de la Catedral parecían un oleo de explosión multicolor(al menos los ratos en que el sol nos honró con su presencia..),por cualquier rincón podías encontrar adornos florales,plantas,frutas..,y he de decir que todo organizado con mucha presencia y muy elegantemente.Estas calles están en la zona antigua,bajando de la Catedral,hay muchas calles similares a estas por toda la zona,pero esta separación llama bastante la atención,por eso la elegí para subirla.Girona esta llena de rincones preciosos y sorprendentes,sobre todo esta parte de la ciudad.
He intentado reducir el blanco del cielo con un gradiente negro-transparente suave para que no distraiga la atención del resto de la foto.Espero que os guste y bienvenidos los consejos..

Girona,May 16th 2008.I know I've borrowed the tittle from Borges,and no matter how paths are bifurcate in the shot,it isn't jarden within sight,but the fact is that the whole city seemed one big garden,it was the Flowers Day.The Cathedral stairs seemed one oil of multicoloured explosion(at least the moments that sun honoured us with its presence..),in any nook you could find flower adornments,plants,fruits..,and I must say all is organized with a lot of good appearance and very elegant.These streets are in the old city,coming down from Cathedral,there are a lot of streets like these in this zone,but this bifurcation attract attention a lot,so I chose it to upload here.Girona is full of beautiful and amazing nooks,all above in this zone of the city.
I tried to reduce the white sky with a black-transparent and soft gradient in order it doesn't distract attention from the rest of the shot.I hope you enjoy it,and welcome for the advices..

two focal points at the same time... nice perspective. It´s also a good decision to darken the margin, so the light is balanced better. Good job !

Hi Sonsoles,

Your POV is enviable with the great effect of wide angle lens. Slopes of narrow streets, stair cases splendid textures of stone facades are makes your photo a unique one. Excellent addition of visitors especially young lady's pose is really eye catching with her pink wear. Dark part of right alley and leading next portico's are cherry on pie with yellow leafs on street there. Great one, congratulations.

me gusta la perspectiva de los senderos que se bifurquan...los colores y el pensar a los profumos y suenos que se puede gustar en caminando en estos senderos!

Hola Sonsoles,
Que ciudad tan bonita y tu foto le hace justicia. La perspectiva es genial y la calidad técnica de la foto también. Te las has arreglado muy bien con la luz y no crea que sea un entorno fácil.
Me gusta mucho también el grupo entre las dos calles y el otro que desaparece al final de las escaleras, le dan mucha vidilla.

Absolutely charming alley, so inviting for a walk, friendly people stoping and chatting. I love the rich tone and warm color of the alley with beautiful soft light shining into the alley. Ah and yes, all those plants and flowers make it so cozy and charming, springs time, all the flower just can help themselves and wanted to just come out and enjoying the light as well. Technically, there is nothing I can pick on with lovely composition. Enjoyed it.

sin duda el escenario y sus componentes son de lujo, Girona es una bella ciudad con personalidad e historia propias. Has escogido un punto de vista genial que destaca la belleza del casco antiguo con sus estrechas y peculiares callejuelas. Excelente perspectiva arquitectónica y una luminosidad muy suave que irradia vida a la imagen.
Nos ofreces la posibilidad virtual que tomar una de las dos calles engalanadas de naturaleza y así recorrer la totalidad de la imagen, un gran POV muy bien visto!!

La foto es muy buena. De hecho, es dos fotos en una. Pero tiene elementos en primer plano, como el grupo en el centro. Y también tiene una gran profundidad de campo, cuando nuestra mirada continúa avanzando por cualquiera de las dos calles.

La foto es muy buena. Pero, aunque sea sólo para tener el acicate de seguir mejorando, lo del efecto del gradiente negro-transparente suave, no me acaba de convencer. Yo utilicé algo así en alguna foto mía, y el resultado se ve algo artificial. Además, creo que intensifica la típica oscuridad de las esquinas en las imagenes con amplitud angular. Supongo que esas cosas se pueden mejorar con algo de trabajo en el ordenador (de hecho, algo he leído sobre eso), pero no sé cómo hacerlo. Quizás algún día me ponga y sepa cómo solucionarlo.

Muy hermosa escena del dia a dia y una impresionante toma de arquitecture a la vez! Grean encuadre y composicion, la (doble) perspectiva es muy impresionante, ambas calles son muy bonitas, como una invitacion para caminarlas. Me encante en efecto "vignette" que has empleado. Impecable manejo de la luz, tambien! Felicidades!

realmente me gusta mucho la imagen. La luz crea un ambiente muy acogedor. los colores suaves y el contraste con los marrones de los muros es perfecto.

Indeed the bifurcation is attractive here and I like how it managed to create interesting spaces as a result. I also enjoyed the colour rendering which is very appealing. The vignetting is a good choice to draw attention to the subject. Well done!!

At first I thought it is a wide angle photo, but looking at details I see I am wrong. It is your perspective through the pathways and the downgrade what makes it having a wide angle view.

Hola Sonsoles,

Excellent POV! Three focuses...two streets and a girl...simply excellent. What could be otherwise just a capture of a street is here a 3 dimensional space felt greatly. Additional bonus are people, giving this space a life, feeling of happening. The group in front talking, the group on left walking and people-empty space at the right with an arch and narrowing walls creating a feeling of curiosity what is behind them. Definitely direction I would go to. Regarding the sky, i would left it white as it would be in nice contrast to dark "tunnel" entrance. But this is me...in opposite to majority I usualy like overexposed white sky. :)
