Photographer's Note
Mallard (Anas Platyrhynchos)
This female is extremely photo shy (her, more colourful, "husband" is even shyer and almost impossible to catch on film). I managed to capture this photo by slowly crawling towards her, every time she put her head under the water (eating sea grass). I can tell that she wasn’t fond of the flash :-)
Due to bad light (late afternoon) and use of the highest zoom level (without a tripod) the quality of this photo isn’t 100%.
--------------------------------
Auto level (contrast) applied and brightness increased. Cloning tool where used to remove some dust and scratches. Finally a black border was added.

Seems like everyone is posting photos of Mallards at the moment. We must all be longing for the summer :).
The light here seem to be a litle bit harch due to the flash. It has removed the warm tones of the bird. Maybe it would have been better with less zoom and more surrounding enviroment. But i know the feeling, i to want to get close to the birds.
