Photographer's Note
I had a wonderful midsummer with my wife's siblings and families. Around midnight I sneaked out and snapped this shot of the midnight sun sky and an old rowing boat in the Ume river.
To me this shot captures a little bit of the hypnotic magic of the slowly flowing river and the tranquility of the summernight.
I underexposed the shot by two stops to bring out the colors better. This is how I perceived the colors of the sky. The downside is having the old wooden rowboat underexposed.
Yes, there really is this much light during midsummer night. No problem to for example read a book in the middle of the night. And this is still far south of the polar circle.
Technical details: No PP, just resized jpeg straight from camera.

Very pleasing shot, showing of the northern summer light quite well.
It reminds me of our Mökki (summer cottage) in eastern Finland. Can't wait to be there again in August.
