Photographer's Note
Kurt Whalem’s saxophone is straight from the heart; his music always brings tears to my eyes. When he explained that a song he played was on one of his ‘gospel ‘ CDs he said, “But everything I play is gospel because I belong to him. Apparently God can walk in 5/4 time. The music was like no gospel music I’ve ever heard; still it had the audience on their feet, swaying to the music. I’ve never heard anyone speak about God in such a straight from the heart manner, he seemed to have no agenda of trying to convince you to believe like he did; rather he only seemed to be saying, “I want you to understand who I am.”

Hi Pat,
He must be playing the sax intensely to get such a red face. Breathless maybe. His dedication is obvious. Excellent capture with perfect framing and composition. Regards,

Hi Pat. I like how you captured him so into his music. You can tell he's really at one with his saxophone. Your POV was ideal for showing his face and saxophone off. Nice take Pat!
