Photographer's Note
This series of photographs is offering a short journey around Switzerland, a landlocked country geographically divided between the Alps, the Swiss Plateau and the Jura, bordering with France, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Italy.
Switzerland (the Swiss Confederation) consists of following 20 cantons (states) and 6 half-cantons: Aargau, Appenzell Ausserhoden*, Appenzell Innerhoden*, Basel Landschaft*, Basel Stadt*, Bern, Fribourg, Geneva, Glarus, Graubünden, Jura, Lucerne, Neuchatel, Nidwalden*, Obwalden*, Schaffhausen, Schwyz, Solothurn, St. Gallen, Thurgau, Ticino, Uri, Valais, Vaud, Zug and Zurich (*=half-canton).
From each canton I’ll post 2 photos and from each half-canton 1 photo, total 46 photographs.
Glarus
The Canton of Glarus is located in the east-central Switzerland. It is dominated by the deep valley of River Linth and high mountains. It shares borders with Canton St. Gallen, Cantons Uri and Schwyz and Canton Graubunden.
The capital city is Glarus.
This photo which I’ve taken in Glarus town shows the neo-romanesque Church of Glarus, built in 1861 after a fire destroyed the old church and much of the town of Glarus.
This church is a major symbol of Glarus town. Canton Glarus and Swiss flags are hanging over the road leading to the church, decoration from Swiss National Day.
Glarus town lies on the Linth River at the foot of the Glärnisch foothills in the Glarus Alps.
Glarus town is located 190km east from Bern and 70km south from Zurich.

Bonjour Miro,
Un cadrage idéal pour ce genre de situation. On se sent presque les épaules serrées par les maisons qui nous entourent.L'église est magnifique avec cette montagne et ce ciel parfait derrière.
Amicalement

Miro - as wonderful a shot this is, the sight of this church with the immense steep slope behind it must have been breathtaking in person. What a gorgeous backdrop for the photo! I like the bursts of red in the Swiss flag and the image above it, which add some color. Well seen!

Hello Miro.
Fabulous POV that of this church with its tall towers, which seem to want to compete with the high mountains, I like the diagonal cut of the steep mountainside to which watches over the city, the facades of the houses to create a good perspective the facade of the church.
Very good management of light and a nice very natural colors, the flags are a nice touch of color.

Good Morning Miro,
Great POV shot displaying the heights - Hill Slope and the spires of the church .. Pleasant colors in the shot too.If the road leading to the church was also present it would have added to the glamour to the shot.

Hi Miro,
The mountain is helping to frame the scene. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the church. The afternoon light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Bonjour Miro,
cadrage difficile pour cette ville très typique de la Suisse. Tu as cadré bien haut et je suppose que des éléments te perturbaient au sol.
Un contre jour bien négocié.
Regards.
Daniel.

Hi Miro,
Impressive double towers. Steep mountain slope in the background well describes how Glarus is surrounded by mountains. Red flags catch attention too.
Great to see you making a series of the whole Switzerland. I will follow that.
(I also have a personal theme of Swiss cantons here.)

Hi Miro,
I really love the architecture of the church, and the line leading us through the street to the building. The backdrop is amazing, and positioned perfectly against the spires of the church. Beautifully seen and captured image, thank you.

Hi Miro,
You're capturing well this place by a good composition and excellent tone, so it's interesting and impressive to see the splendid church with two spires and clock in central position and mountain with steep slope and rich greenery in behind. It's also tasteful for buildings of both side. And, red/white national flag of Switzerland and symbol flag above it draw out a good impact. The whole is harmonized well by a good composition and beautiful color combination.
Kind regards,
mikio
