300 tons of timber, a photo from Jura, Ouest

Photographer's Note

Short freight train with Re4/4 engine on a bridge next to village of Saint-Ursanne. Mountains of Jura don't have high peaks. But the terrain is very rugged, making the SBB railway line between Glovelier and Porrentruy a chain of tunnels bridges and embankments.
And Saint-Ursanne is a beautiful medieval village, as can seen from other photos here in TE!

Actually I don't think the train is as heavy as suggested by the title, this just happens to be my 300th photo in TE...

Kari,
I like your composition! The color and lighting are great. I wish you could have captured the train with a bit more sharpness. I would also like to see a little more of the montains behind the bridge.

Congratulations for reaching another TE milestone. Creative title :)
Good capture of the logging train going over the viaduct. The red engine makes a nice splash of colour in the predominantly green landscape.

I like the great technical quality of this shot and the wonderful colors of the train - the pano is very well done (Software Canon ?).

Shooting conditions look apparently far from ideal here, but the sight of a convoy passing a viaduct is always spectacular, and as we could expect the lok is red !

Hi Kari,
Congratulations for this new TE milestone that you've reached! And obviously, you could not post anything else but a Swiss train to this occasion. I like the way you've cropped the picture to a panoramix format to leave out the white sky. Do you study the train timetables to take these shots or do you just happen to be at the right time in the right place?

You got a good quality of the LV image desptite it's a crop. looking first, I think the view is tilted. However the pylon are vertical. It's only a perspective effect.
