Photographer's Note

While on a bare foot walk back to Appenzell I strolled past this scene of everyday country life in "Appenzellerland".
Gently rolling hills with mountains in the back ground. In the fore ground a local farmer turns, moves, his grass to help dry it. He is driving a machine the like of which I have not seen before. It was like a compressed 4x4 forklft truck, compresed so that it appeared to be only about 1 metre high max. I can only assume this is to keep a very low centre of gravity while traversing the steep hill sides. The turning machine was mounted on the front.
