Photographer's Note
This series of photographs is offering a short journey around Switzerland, a landlocked country geographically divided between the Alps, the Swiss Plateau and the Jura, bordering with France, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Italy.
Switzerland (the Swiss Confederation) consists of following 20 cantons (states) and 6 half-cantons: Aargau, Appenzell Ausserhoden*, Appenzell Innerhoden*, Basel Landschaft*, Basel Stadt*, Bern, Fribourg, Geneva, Glarus, Graubünden, Jura, Lucerne, Neuchatel, Nidwalden*, Obwalden*, Schaffhausen, Schwyz, Solothurn, St. Gallen, Thurgau, Ticino, Uri, Valais, Vaud, Zug and Zurich (*=half-canton).
From each canton I’ll post 2 photos and from each half-canton 1 photo, total 46 photographs.
Appenzell Innerrhoden
Appenzell Innerrhoden is the smallest canton of Switzerland by population and the second smallest by area. It is located in the north east of Switzerland, bordering the cantons of St. Gallen and Appenzell Ausserrhoden.
Most of the canton is pastoral, this despite being mountainous. The Säntis peak in the Appenzell Alps is one of the main attractions of the canton. There are three small mountain lakes in the canton: Seealpsee, Sämtisersee and Fälensee.
It was the last Swiss canton to grant women the vote on local issues, in 1991.
The capital city is Appenzell.
I’ve taken this photo of Hotel Säntis, located on the “Voting Square”, in the town of Appenzell.
Citizens from the canton assemble every last Sunday of April for the general assembly in this square to vote (by rising hand) on laws and elect the Governing Council.

Ciao Miro,

saluti

Hi Miro
I am a natural citizen of Appenzell, even though I never yet been there :-)
So, thank you for showing me my homeland.
You show us here a typical street scene of these parts of Switzerland and your note is very well informed.

Miro
A sublimate of Austria and the Bavarian Alps.
But a key to Switzerland only.
Calm and order in perfect silence.
Inhabited by men and by night the "gnomes" who prepare and plan their lives.
Beautiful photos with svizzzero reflective spirit.

Hello Miro,
nice the view as the facades of the buildings with the lot of people to enjoy their coffee under the umbrellas.
I like the light and the colour management of the image with the existence of the upper parts of the buildings to did the image even more effective.
Have a good afternoon,Danos

Salut cher Miro
This is quintessential Switzerland. When I visited there myself a few years ago, I was struck by the beautiful architecture and the immaculate way in which the Swiss care about their towns. This photo provides further proof. A lovely photo that makes me want to return to your wonderful country.
Bonne amities

Hi Miro,
A magnificent joly pink color on the hotel facade, contrast the white on side.
People taking their time on the Cafe' veranda added a fine vivid scale.
Nice spotted and collected scene.
Good evening,

Hello Miro,
This is a nice view of these buildings. I like those original decorations under the windows. The people enjoying the terraces add life. The colors and details are sharp.
Best regards

Hi Miro,
The tight frame is putting the houses in evidence. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the houses. The presence of the people is adding life to the scene. The afternoon light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.
Pierre
