Photographer's Note
I decided to repost this as the mountain face looked hazy. As far as I can remember it actually wasn't. But strong brightness difference lead to loss of contrast on the upper half of the picture. This time mountain face and grass field were processed separately to show better contrast.
Original note:
Class BDhe4/8 train of Jungfraubahn leaving Kleine Scheidegg towards the highest railway station in Europe, Jungfraujoch at 3454m. The mountain in the background is Mönch.
The railway has 1m gauge and uses rack and pinion all it's 9.3 km route. Mostly open air section to Eigergletscher station was opened in 1898. Most of the route goes in tunnel inside Eiger and Mönch mountains and the top part of the route to Jungfraujoch was opened in 1912.

I probably would have lighten the bottom green section even more. I agree with you that it was a right move to process each half separately, but I miss some light in the bottom area. But I bet you ran into noise problems there (while trying to get some details from shadows) and that made you stop where you stopped. There is also some traces of noise reduction... The top section is perfect! Composition is very good and the scene itself is wonderful. A sight I wouldn't mind experiencing. I like it.

Hallo Kari!
You show the Mönch here in an impressive way! The small railway in front of this rock face with it's glaciers looks a bit touching. I think the a bit hazy impression underlines the magnificence of this mountain. You managed the difficult light very well.
Greetings from sunny Germany!

Hi Kari,
Light is indeed terrible, as it always is shooting to the Eiger north-face. But you managed well comparing to the ws and including that red train is of course essential for the overal composition...i like this a lot.
Have a nice weekend, Henk

Hi Kari,
I prefer the mountain in this version and the grass/train in the first version posted. I'd like more light/brightness to appreciate the grass field and the train. Maybe it's not easy to get in a single picture the best on both sides, even with separated processing (I can't say much, as I am not good at processing).
The mountain top is so "strong" here that we almost don't notice the humble train. This may be good or bad, depending on one's interest in nature or transportation photos. Anyway, the mix of the two different parts is appealing.
Regards. F.

Incroyable cette beautée d'image . Quel contraste entre la nature de l'été et ses montagnes de hautes altitude coiffé de neige. Couleurs et angle de vue parfait.. Bravo. j'aime en maudit cette photo.. Réal.

Wow, nice landscape shot Kari. That dramatic looking mountain in the background is the perfect backdrop for the green field of grass with the train running through it... a classic Swiss scene done very well. Composition is excellent and the colors & contrast in this one have alot more "pop" than the original. A really good repost, well worth the effort.
Great work.

Hi Kari,
I can understand your decision the reload this picture for it has to be in balance with your memory, but for me both pictures are both from equal high quality for I’m not disturbed by a memory of this scene.

Kari,
I was part of the trip up to the top of Europe! The swiss engineering of this here is absolutely mind boggling and taking into account that they started to build it more than 12o years ago it makes it even more unbelievable! I love your composition and POV. The little detail of green contrasting agains the red train on the very bottom being opressed by the magnificent Moench in the background. You're right the haziness is a little bit disturbing but certainly not to the point not to post it!

Hi Kari,
well done, this is better, more impressive and as you wrote, more real. The good visual contrast of green against the grey and white is interesting, the peak makes it appealing.

Great view, Kari!
Mountain reigns with much splendor over the valley, softly lighted by a hole in clouds and featuring the romantic view of a train!
Nice work on mountain.
Best regards.

You have well mixed your preferred themes Kari, this image have great appeal also to me, this view of the giant in rock and ice with the very small train, in comparison with it, dipped into the green is fantastic, excellent one, compliments.

Hello Kari,
The red train really stands out in this dramatic landscape!
A fine composition with a few but significant elements, and the summit reminds about the problems with building railways in Switzerland...

Hello Kari,
The mountain is impressive. We don't have snow here in Malta, no mountains either, so seeing both on your photo makes it very interesting to me.
Your photo is really beautiful. Well captured too. Regards from Malta.

Salut Kari! This is an impressive take. The train seems very tiny, like a toy somehow, against the magnificent Monech in the back. I have made it up once, and funny enough most of the tourists were sleeping by the time we reached the top, most of them were from Japan and I guess they were not used to the altitude or maybe they were all jet laged after seeing Europe in four days :))))
I know about the "D" sign on the hot air balloon. I think the region is probably sponsoring a ballooning team in Germany for promotion reasons. I was so disappointed about your Kebab experience in Glarus, I mean hello you missed the Glarner Pastete ... all so funny.

Very good, Kari, I missed this, the mountain is gorgeous and the train looks so small under it. Light is a bit hazy but doesn't really matter here.
Cheers
