Photographer's Note

The Kozelets’ main church and architectural attraction is the Cathedral of the Rozhdestva Bogoroditsi (Nativity of the Blessed Virgin). The cathedral was built in the mid-18th century (from 1752 to 1766) in the late Ukrainian Baroque style by architects Ivan Hryhorovych-Barskiy and Andriy Kvasov, according to a project developed by imperial architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli. Funds for the construction of the cathedral were provided by Olexiy Rozumovskiy and Kirilo Rozumovskiy, who was appointed as Hetman in 1750.
