Photographer's Note

The Holy Trinity church (now it is considered as a cathedral) was built in 1641 – 1644. The chronicle of the Hustinya’s Monastery says that the church stands on the bodies of three martyrs, as a result of a tragedy that happened in 1640. At that time, a Tatar horde from Crimea came up close to Kiyiv, and only there, having a formidable resistance, swept back to Perekop, burning villages fiercely in their way. Three days later, pilgrims found three infants slaughtered near the monastery and took them inside. The dead bodies stayed imperishable as long as a year until they were buried under the altar of the Troitska Church being then under construction.
