Photographer's Note

Mykhailivsky Cathedral in Kyiv was built in the times of Kyiv Rus in 1070-1088, one century after Rus was christianized. It stood on the hill overlooking the Dnipro river until 1936 when it was destroyed by Soviets. It was rebuilt in 1998, the new walls containing original stones of the old cathedral.

Now the St.Mykhailo (Michael) cathedral is one of Kyiv's brightest jewels, it's here to stay another thousand years. At least.

The photo was taken from very close at wide angle, and the perspective here is deliberate. I tried to express my vision of shining golden domes pointing to the sky, so deeply blue on that sunny day.
