Photographer's Note

Judging by this picture the police have had instructions to relax whilst policing the annual Horse Fair.Otherwise the chap enjoying the pint (or two or three) may have been charged with being drunk in charge of a (horse drawn) vehicle. A blind eye is turned to many of the Horse Fair activities as the police have their work cut out managing the traffic and the crowds of people and horses. There were over 100,00 people at the fair on Saturday and cars were having to queue more than two hours to get off the motorway on the way there. The temprature soared to 30 degrees making a policeman's lot difficult. But this officer is still smiling.
There is a happy anarchy about the Fair that is thoroughly enjoyable and perhaps this officer has been infected by some of that.
ps - A sign of my age, doesn't the policeman look young?; he hardly fills his shirt!
