Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
I have been out testing my new lens, which I got for Christmas.
I was hoping to capture some birds, perching on the branches of the winter trees but, sadly, the only robin I saw flew away before I had set my camera up!
Anyway, this winter tree was very useful, acting as a textured border around the distant lodge.
Thanks for your interest, Bev :-)

Ciao Bev,unfortunately the attempt to catch some birds with the new lens went wrong, however you let yourself be inspired and the photo is simple but very artistic, the bare tree waiting for spring, but maybe it will still have to pass under the snow, the quality 'is really excellent and the composition is well thought out too. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Bev,
The bent and twisted tree is one of Nature's own sculptures, and with the still naked branches and twigs it looks quite artistic against the sky. I like the inclusion of the wall, which gives the photo a kind of stability. For some reason I am quite fond of the building seen in a gap between branches and a wall (or possibly a hedge).
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Beverley, a new lens? Lucky you.
I like the way that the branches fill two thirds of the frame, and the smaller twigs frame the house.
A lovely stone wall in the foreground.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Bev,
The distance between the tree and the lodge is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the tree and of the stone wall. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Enjoy the new lens, Beverley, keep looking for birds around home, wonderful nature there as already learnt.
The naked tree animate the photo, yet found a good spot to show the mansion up the shallow hill.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Bev,
The wall and tree dominate your picture.
We get a little bit blue sky between the branches.
Excellent composition, goede presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Hello Beverley,
The house is well framed by the twist in the tree trunk but I also like the sheep on the right side of the photo.
I also find the dry stone walls of the British Isles always nice to see, since we don't have them at all.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev,
Yes I think birdwatching is slightly a matter of a chance but of course preparation matters and good eye. It is harder to take a good photo of a bird without a hideout they are so shy.
Lovely scene here. I had a walk in the park with my wife in the lunchbreak yesterday and somehow the colors of winter are just not favourtite to phtograph. But you managed to find an interesting motif of the tree and of course you captured it very nicely with the natural background. The lone house in the distance makes a difference for this scene as well.
Very well done,
M

Great composition, Bev. I very much like the use of the tree here. Also the position of the house in the distance is spot on. Nice one! Cheers & congratulations.

Hello Bev, You were polite and Santa brought you a beautiful toy. Attractive view of this leafless tree and the house under it.

Hello Beverly,
As we say in Turkish, "May you use your new lens with laughter" (may you use it in happiness). Those sheep in the distance could have been a nice target for your lens, too.
Regards,
MT
