Photographer's Note
Another 'byegone' image, this time, a typical Cheshire cottage sitting snugly on a narrow lane that is very typical of many of our rural districts, this one being the small township of Dunham Massey.
Another Photoshop tip too, when converting an image to sepia it's very quick and easy to desaturate the image, then adjust its hue to sepia by choosing image..adjustments..hue/saturation.
There's a downside to this method, any pure white areas in the image will not be tinted at all, simply because you can't add a hue to a fully saturated white.
Here's a method that overcomes this:
After converting the image to monochrome click on the colour picker to change the foreground colour. Change it to a rich orange/brown, something like R181 G89 B0.
Create a new layer.
Fill this layer with the foreground colour by using edit..fill, choose foreground in the dropdown box and set the opacity to 25%.
This adds a sepia toned, semi transparent layer on top of the monochrome image, it also sepia tones the white parts of the image, giving a much more realistic look.

The effect " old photo " sepia colour, is completed here, Michael. You knew how to give a ancient small sight to this quiet and quiet place. The photo is full of poetry, full of charm. We would expect to see taking out a person of Agatha Christie!
Very good artistic work Michael.

As I've on some of my previous postings, I liek the old postcard look, and I think you've achieved that well here with your PP. Useful detail in the note.

Nice presentation of a terrace in a quaint English setting. You display a competent composition with good contrasting shades. Recon a house in the village must be worth a million quid!
Well done.

PS Good accompanying note Mike. I have found that going to PS, and selecting the variations tool (with image already in desaturated mode) and with one red and another yellow alteration creates an alternative to your method.

I love the photo Mike - my family restored this house and I grew up there in the 70's and 80's. Amazing to see it again on the web. Thank you.
