Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

This is the entrance to The Royal Arcade, Norwich, from Castle Meadows and to us, created a very pleasing vista.

It was designed by local architect George Skipper in the Arts and Crafts style popular at the end of the nineteenth century and built on the site of an old coaching inn.
It was unveiled on the 25th May 1899.

Over the entrance from this end, is a large semicircular window, glazed with a mosaic in stained glass depicting trees and birds which extends to the properties to either side, with more tiles and the aforementioned window, all topped by an angel with wings reaching to the sky.

I will add a close-up of some of these decorations as a workshop.

Have a lovely Sunday, Bev :-)
