Esk Reflections, a photo from North Yorkshire, England

Photographer's Note

This shot was taken with my back to the view I posted two days ago. See here. As you will see there is a stark contrast. Anywhere in the shade is still frosty and the image has a moody quality. Here the sun has melted the frost and the light looks good. I like the reflections in the River Esk, which is what prompted me to take the photo.

Hi Kath,
I have a filter like this you use that I bought some days ago, but I must make some experiences with him. Very nice landscape capture you did. Excelent luminosity and autumnal atmosphere with a nice deep blue sky. Fine colors and sharpness. The vertical format and enquadrement is very good and so well framed. Splendid mirroring water reflections.

Hello Kath,

this time you followed a little more the "rules" (joke). It seems to me a very calm river, nice reflections are the result. Here today it's a very grey sky, a little colder and it could snow. I'm just waiting for next summer, I long for it... very hard.

Nice shot, Kath. I like the branch over the river, kinda framing the picture at the top. I follow you on the reflections: I like them too; very calming picture. However, the other view you took here a few days ago is my favourite.

So now trees are leafless in England too.
Reflections are a great theme, I can't resist them. Well framed. And the combinations of dark blue and brown seems surprisingly harmonous.

Nice to see you had a day with blue sky. Seems pretty rare in London these last few months. The reflections work very well and gives the picture some nice depth. I was wondering about the colour saturation here. I'm in two minds whether extra saturation would have given even more impact. Just a thought.

Hi Kath,
You've got a good point here to display a fine reflection of these trees, the colors are a bit on the cold side but this matches imho quite well the calm and peaceful atmospere radaiating from this photo just looking at the water.

Nice capture an good composition. Here has the same importance the trees as their reflection over the water. The light is also good and the first tree works very well as frame.

Hi Kath. Indeed the mirror-like reflections do make for some photogenic subjects. It might have been fun to do a cropping just on the reflections but on the other hand it's nice having complete symmetry. Nice one Kath.
