Photographer's Note
After we had returned to the car from the walk through Miller’s Woods, (seehere), we set off again through Arncliffe Woods, which is reached just over a footbridge located through one of the arches of the railway bridge, (nearBeggar's Bridge). This was a really muddy walk, as presumably the shelter of the trees had prevented the frost from hardening the ground. Not far through the woods it is possible to see some of the most stunning reflections in the River Esk that I have seen for a while. It was a must to get down the bankside to the edge of the river. I was so glad I was the only one with a camera, as I succeeded in doing the splits; one foot was firmly anchored at the top of the bank while the other foot slid without stopping as far as it could get. For the rest of the way I did a passable impersonation of a crab. Nothing hurt but my dignity. Last time we were there we saw some otters, but not on this occasion.
As well as the reflections you can still see frost on the grass at the other side of the river. The speed was slow so I set the 2 second timer to help with hand holding.

Serwus Kath !
Superb example of transition of seasons. Excellent exposure here, magnifficent tones. Quite dynamic composition, because of the well considered framing - what is rather uncommon and hard to execute with water's reflection.
Be well,
Mat

Hi Kath,
Splendid luminosity and autumnal atmosphere in this river scenery you took. Early morning frost so well captured. A simphony of soft tones. Excelente point of view and piece of nature with a very good and fine enquadrement.
Very well done and composed. Have a nice Sunday. Congratulations.

Kath
Good to see the curvature of the stream going into the distance. This effect always works to draw the attention of the viewer into to picture. The frost has come out stunningly and really conveys the wintery feel. The reflection of the landscape works extremely well too. The colours and tones have a powerful impact in this composition and conveys the seasonal changes well.
Very good work!
Aubrey.
PS Thanks for the link. It works.

Hello Kath,
it's a spectacular view with that frost on the grass. Possible that the trees are a little over-exposed ? The colours of the reflected trees are wonderful, better then the real trees. But still a very nice picture.
regards,
Luc.

Hi Kath.
Again a nice place, a nice landscape to us. This one looks beautiful, with that light and colours, and, of course, the reflection over the water.
With this one and also with another of your last photos I think that I would like be in a place like this... someday, someday...

Hi Kath, You have done an excellent job here to capture the beautiful autumn colors in the cold morning. The frost grass on the bank in the shade and the golden colored tree under the sun make a nice contrast and beautiful scenery, especially view them over the reflections. A very well taken picture. Well done.

Your frame is really interesting because one can't see the colored top of tree, except in the water. It makes a great contrast and effect : blue/cold vs braun/warmth in 4 layers...
Very pertinent and strong.

Hi Kath. You are quite the trooper with doing whatever it takes to get the shot! You're right about needing to get down the bank to fully appreciate the reflections. I like how you focused the composition on them. What a serene shot Kath.

You have captured some marvellous reflections in the water here, Kath, and the sharpness of the photograph is very good for a handheld shot at 1/30th Perhaps it is a little over exposed. I think you would have had better saturation at 1/60th, but then you may have lost a little detail in the shadow area on the right - so it's always a trade-off. Cheers . . . David
