A rather postcard-ish view which was 'The Place' to view the ruins even when Turner visited and painted the scene from this very spot.
A feature of Jervaulx is that the site is privately owned and has never been made very tidy like many sites managed by Natural England.
Wild flowers and shrubs jostle between tumbled stones in a quite delightful way.
