Photographer's Note
I have recently watched a movie titled “Dark Waters”. It tells a real-life story of a lawyer and farmer who have challenged DuPont. They proved that this famous chemical company knowingly used a toxic chemical in their products, and that it consciously endangered their employees, local environment, the world... It is a shocking story, and it affects each of us, because the material it talks about is Teflon, and most interestingly even though it happened many years ago, the consequences are stretching to these days. As a scientist, I don’t believe in conspiracy theories so abundant these days, but this case certainly does not help to raise trust in chemical industry or people of science in general.
The dark waters which you see in this photo are just the consequence of strong contrast with the shadowed area in this photo. I decided to keep it to have more of the little river present here and a bit of the harbour appearing in the distance. It was captured on a socially distanced walk in the village of Staithes.

Hi Mariusz, your photo, which in any case has no effects due to pollution but only to exposure, was a good opportunity to talk about the disasters of chemical companies. In Italy we have had many examples, such as in Rosignano, where the bicarbonate factory created a Maldives effect in the sea, still visible today, or near the large ports always dirty with oil. The photo is very beautiful, it recalls the style of Denis "dta", who unfortunately left the site like many others. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Mariusz, the steep sides of the village as we approach the shore prevent the sun from reaching this part of the river.
Yet the sunshine beautifully illuminates the cottages and the cliff on the left hand side.
We often view Staithes from a higher POV so it is good to see it at sea level.
Interesting note, food for thought.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Mariusz,
No problem that the water is very dark here. As long as the sky is bright blue, as it is typical for your English pictures :)
The cliff on the back reminds me of a desert landscape. Then, of course, there wouldn't be a river in the foreground ...
The residents here built their houses on the relatively narrow strip that remained between the cliff and the water.
Beautiful and colourful picture presented in a good composition.
Best regards, Paul

Good morning Mariusz,
I was relieved to notice the dark water on the picture merely a shadow. I say this, because two weeks ago we had a big disaster in our caostline from north to south with a crude-oil spilled from an unknown vessel cruising the eastern Mediterranean, loss of wildlife and causing a closure of the beaches for unknown time.
Good contrast from the well lit houses and cliff.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

I have no problem with the dark waters, we can still see enough details in it. The houses are well exposed and colourful. Good PoV chosen along your walk.

Hello Mariusz,
Oh, this brings back such fond memories!
We visited Staithes with Kath and Rob Featherstone. It is a beautiful, little seaside village and your photograph brings out details of its pretty cottages and charming location.
AS always, you have taken care with the composition, following rules and using the natural features as guides.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz,
A great photo of this row of small houses in front of the very steep and tall cliffs. The bright sunlight makes the warm colours look beautiful and adds a great contrast with the darker tones at right.

Lepa fotografija i uhvaceni trenutak u selu.

Hi Mariusz,
Tremendous warm cold colour contrasts between the blue sky and the red tiled roofs and rust red cliffs. Good sharpness and the stream adds perspective. Tfs!
