Photographer's Note

I suppose, around year 2000, it was common to add the word “Millennium” to new structures. In the consequence, there are several Millennium Bridges around the world, in Gateshead, Lancaster, Glasgow, London, Salford, Stockton-on-Tees, York, Dublin, Podgorica, Gdansk, Denver, Chicago and Kazan.

It reminds me the fastest spaceship of all times which was called Millennium Falcon (that was long time ago in the galaxy far far away).

Gateshead Millennium Bridge which connects Gateshead in the south and Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the north of the River Tyne is certainly one of my most favourite bridges in town. I created a TrekEarth theme dedicated to this particular bridge so if you want to see it from different angles please copy/paste and visit this link:

I took a photo from this point of view many many times, but I was always bothered by the uninteresting foreground. This time I liked the warm winter sunshine here so much that I decided to share it.
