Photographer's Note
Situated on an island in the middle of Lake Menteith, the only 'Lake' in Scotland, Inchmahome Priory is a ruined Augustine (The Black Cannons) priory founded in 1238 by Walter Comyn, who was the Earl of Menteith. The Earl is likely to have founded the monastery for the good of his soul, and to show of his status as an important landowner. The priory would also provide his family with a final resting place befitting of his grandeur!
The island is reached by a boat from the pier at the Port of Menteith and is now looked after by Historic Scotland.
It was a damp morning with drizzle but I think that added to the atmosphere.

I must admit I've often struggled, but failed miserably to take a decent shot of those moss covered ancient stones that look so mysterious on any day, but particularly so on a rainy day. for some reason I just cannot get beyond a casual snapshot with no mood whatsoever.
THIS, photo, however, does have a mood - sombre colours that fits the place and distinct moss to emphasise that it wasn't built yesterday. I like the simple composition, the symetry of trees and the frame the trunk of the tree on the left provides.
two things that I think could be improved - the sky is burnt out, and you might want no get a slightly lower point of view, so the branches of the tree on the left would be above the ruins and thus give an even better frame.
all the best and welcome to TE :)
