Photographer's Note

Well if you ever want to go back and experience life back in the early 19th Century? Then the Ffestinog and Welsh Highland Railways is the trip to enjoy..

This narrow gauge steam train has been completely rebuild between Porthmadog and Caernarfon for a cost of over 23 million Pounds.

There is so much I would love to share with you about this wonderful trip- but I know I cannot do it justice in either photos or words..

We enjoyed just a short trip up through the lower reaches and then zig zagging up through the highlands of Snowdonia, to a little village of Beddgelert. - passed through wonderful old villages, alongside raging ravines(always rains in Wales)and then through the planted pine forests before reaching the plains of the plateau..

Its great fun for young and old.. from first calss to third class and even an open carriage( for the nearly hardy- it does have a roof on it) all staff are dressed in old period uniforms, from the ticket collector, to the stokers and to the catering staff.. Its fun, its an adventure and well worth sharing with family and friends..

The Photo shows the old Engine - Baguley- Used for shunting within the Porthmadog station.. The steam engines used are old steam engines- that had been found on a old farm in South Africa- brought back to the UK and refurbished..
