Edinburgh's Christmas

Here's my Christmas photo for this year, this time taken in the Scottish capital of Edinburgh, that I visited two weeks ago.
It's an impression of what Princes Street Gardens are like in this time of the year, as it's currently turned into a Winter Wonderland with a skating rink, a little fairground and a Deutscher Weihnachtsmarkt (German Christmas Market).
In the background you can see the Scott Monument, the Balmoral Hotel and North Bridge. On the left hand side runs Princes Street. This photo was taken from The Mound, almost half an hour after sunset (4pm).

Beautiful shot Lars and a perfect Christmas card. You found an excellent POV looking over the garden and using the perspective in your composition. Very well exposed too with all the whites and Christmas lights and just in time for the blue hour.

Lars,
Your composition and POV are great here showing the diagonal created by the natural slope of the landscape. The blue hour lighting is very good providing a nice blue backdrop for the artificially lit buildings. The photo is well balanced with the many areas of interest through out the scene.

Heel mooie kleuren op deze blue hour foto. Mooie combinatie met het donkere Scott Monument.
De foto ademt zowel de kerstsfeer als een pretparksfeer uit.

is that tower Scott monument ? it seems a very fine piece of architecture,
good POV showing all this features, the quality is good, but maybe higher F/Stop would provide better sharpness in the BG

Olá Lars, beautiful Christmas postcard. The wheel and the church's tower makes a wonderful pair against the blue sky. Blue-hour at 4pm! And I still complain about the sunset at 5:30pm in Lisbon...I like very much the > of the composition, starting on the wheel and finishing on the roofs in FG.

It's a wonderful blue hour image, taken from a very good POV, that allow us a great vision over the fair and the Christmas decorations. It seems to be a very difficult light situation, with all those well lit white things, but you cope with it very well.

Here is a lovely blue hour photo showing Edinburgh in a festive mood. I believe the object behind the Ferris wheel is a tower, and not a tall pine tree, as I initially thought. My, what an elaborate tower!

Lars, the Christmas market, the fairy lights, the big wheel illuminated create a magical atmosphere at the end of the year. The Scott monument, the hotel and its clock tower stick out by their heights in the background. The light is well managed during the blue hour. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
