Photographer's Note
Still on the tow path, but this time showing a boat in all its (washday) splendour! This narrowboat, moored on the canal at Bingley' is used as a permanent home.
According to a study by David Butcher in which dialects were recorded the name 'Hodmedod' is a Suffolk dialect name for 'snail' - very apt for this form of transport! Evidently in Norfolk this name is more commonly used for a hedgehog and 'dodman' for snail. There may well be other uses and/or variations in other counties.

Hello Maggie
You've got a great eye to observe this funny scene. The cloth-line is the bonus that makes a really different shot, well seen.
Excellent frame too to have a graphic result and a marvelous reflection. I'm agree with Bev, the Hodmedod looks like a dragon or a strange marine animal, a sea horse ?!
Unusual shot, congrats.

Hi Maggie,
I like this composition with the reflections and the linen which dries. The snail is really funny: normally, it should not have gone out with a so nice weather!!!
A very original centring which pleases me a lot!
Warm regards

Geia sou Maggie,
and i wonder what 'Hodmedod' means! Just reading your complementary note and i can say that snail is the correct word for this type of transport. Here in Greece we have not boat houses in rivers or in canals like in England and in Holland.I like the reflection that looks like as a painting.Well done.
Have a nice evening,Danos

Hello Maggie,
A lovely composition of horizontal layers, containing a similarity of colours and tones.
The rippling of the reflection and the water reflection on the boat's side, are very well captured details.
The other interest is, of course, the washing! Don't we all love to investigate such intimate, personal details!!
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Dear Maggie,
The clever thing in this composition is the way the top and bottom layers have the same structure, repeated clothes and repeated ripples, sandwiching a contrasting very solid centre.
It's almost 6 months since you gave us this wonderful example of the way you see. PLEASE start posting again, even if it's only to let us know you have been living a summer at snail's pace!
