Photographer's Note

Petersham Meadows.

Every year the Meadow is visited by a grazing herd between April and October.The herd has been chosen for their character and have been assessed as suitable to graze a site with high numbers of visitors.
The heard is part of Surrey wildlife trust's main herd which is based 10 miles away in Wisley Common.

The herd has been selected to perform conservation grazing and is monitored on a regular basis.

The construction on the hill is the Royal star and garder homes.

The Royal Star & Garter Homes is a charity founded in 1916, to care for the severely injured young men returning from the battlegrounds of World War One.

Hello Danos,
A great view across the green field with some tiny yellow flowers. The background is beautiful with the forest and the grand house rising up from behind it. The black and white cows make a great addition in the foreground.

hello Danos, a beautiful this construction on the hill. But more interesting is this herd of the cows. I saw such black and white cows in many places in New Zealand and found them original. I had no idea they are from Sussex. Charming composition.

This is a lovely image with cows grazing in the meadows in the foreground and a majestic building in the background. I wonder how it would look if the partial cow on the right could be removed. I'll try it with Photoshop and upload the result to the WS to see what you think.

I wonder how they assess the character of the cows. Either way they may such a charming foreground!
Although it is not the city centre -it is in London County -and I would never guess its location!
Lovely composition with the interesting building in the distance and wonderful rural scene in front of it.

I liked the view with a strip of pasture well illuminated while the forest and the palace were in shadows. curious this race of bovines with a white strip.

Wonderful composition! Great color and lighting, and nice balance of elements in the foreground and back ground with an interesting subject. I think these are mostly Belted Galloway, or Dutch Belted, but the latter are more rare. This looks almost like a country idyllic painting from previous centuries. Great shot!
