Photographer's Note

Fond Memories of My First TE Meeting, June, 2011.

Today I thought I would remind myself of a lovely couple of days I spent at Keswick, Cumbria in June, 2011 as my first ever TE meeting. The weather was glorious, the countryside was beautiful and the people, whom I had only "met" electronically through TE, proved to be wonderfully kind, interesting and, above all, jolly good fun.

One place we visited, not far from Keswick, was the Threlkeld Quarry & Mining Museum which also had a narrow gauge railway. My main picture is a quick snap of Ian Hartland, a highly experienced and skilled engineer, who has rebuilt and maintained the locomotives and machinery there. And those of you who have a keen eye might recognise a certain young lady in the background.

ISO 100, 1/200 sec at f/8. focal length 45mm.

We all had a trip on the narrow gauge railway as you can see in workshop #1. Larger version without text: https://i1.trekearth.com/photos/48186/img_a0424.jpg

And workshop #2 has another picture of "Mrs. Itchy Feet". Larger version without text: https://i1.trekearth.com/photos/48186/img_a0498.jpg
