Photographer's Note

Plympton St. Maurice Guildhall.

"There has been a guildhall on this site since the thirteenth century.
The date of the present Guildhall is 1696.
This pillared arcade was originally deeper, and accommodated stocks and a pillory. There were two cells, and from 1692 the mayor was empowered to hold a Civil Court every Monday.

The street still has the characteristic pattern of a medieval village."
(Plympton St. Maurice - a guide)

This village is very close to where I live and there are many signs of its age with interesting buildings besides a ruined castle that stands high above the streets.
I liked the shadows of the pillars as they fell across the covered pavement.

A slightly different view in the w/s.

Thanks for looking.
