Sunlight on Sycamore, a photo from Lancashire, England

Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

I wonder if others will be as amazed as me, by the effects off the low sunlight on the leaves.

When the sun reaches the west, it illuminates the lower leaves on this sycamore tree so that they take on a beautiful, lime green hue.

On occasions, the sunlight shafts through the branches, streaking the grass with light, as it did this time.

I could see this from my conservatory window, and just had to capture it! I hope you like it, too.

Hi Beverley,
The side light on the green lawn made a variable tones of green mingling in charming effect through.
A simple sight you had from your home and managed a wonderful picture. Simple as that. Always i stated best surprises can occur near us...

Yes, we can see some rays of sunlight falling through the foliage to reach the lawn.
Beautiful with the different tones of green in the foliage.
You clearly have a large garden.

A beautiful autumn photo. The bright sunlight creates such a wonderful play of light and shadows in the leaves of the tree and you captured that ray of light on the left hand side really well, too.

I see from your reply to Paul that this is not your own garden, but you nevertheless live in nice surroundings. It's a fine capture of the rays of the sun coming through the foliage and across the lawn. I might have noticed the effect on the leaves but I'm not sure I would have thought to take a photo. I'm glad you did. ;-) It's a kind of garden equivalent to a "nothing special street shot", if you understand what I mean. A small but nice detail, easily missed.

Sometime one must have much patience , sun, shadow and perfect incidence of light are very important, you did very well.

Oh yes, sunlight through leaves is lovely, and bright green lawn looks good too. Thick horizontal branch at the top gives good framing. You don't have autumn colours there yet, I see.

A very successful picture where you manage to capture the beautiful late light in many colours green.
Always very difficult to capture the actual atmosphere of the bright sunlight on a small computer screen, but you did very well.

Beutiful view of this illuminated tree nad the laawn under it. I suppose I have never see a sycamore. It doesn't gtow imn Poland.

Hi Bev,
Indeed there are so many beautiful moments when the light causes some extraordinary effects. We as photographers are probably more perceptive, and notice these beauties but too often there is no camera at hand. Today after dropping my daughter off at school when I was driving there was such a beautiful rainbow, so intense and so bright! But it faded away when I got home.
Here luckily you managed to capture some of the lovely effect. The leaves backlit especially in the autumn are so beautiful to watch.
It encourages me to take my camera to park next time :0

Beverley, that lawn is very well maintained, it reminds a golf course. It is a nice nature photo with the light filtered by the leaves. Good play of light and shadow. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
