Photographer's Note

A 'nothing special' shot today, this is a picture of a part of the Lord Mayor's Parade in Plymouth 2011.

It is an annual event which welcomes the new Lord Mayor into their role. Usually held in May; obviously there was no such event this year due to Covid.

"The Lord Mayor and the Lord Mayor's Office are the council's chief custodians of civic pride and its champions of community cohesion.

The Office of Lord Mayor is representational by nature, this means that the Lord Mayor holds no executive powers and the office of Lord Mayor is fundamentally apolitical, neutral and independent.

This is one of its greatest strengths and means that the Lord Mayor can represent all sections of the community as First Citizen without fear or favour."

The parade will often have a theme; sorry but I don't know what the theme was in 2011.

Looking at the ladies, I did wonder whether I should have cropped the first two ladies, as I didn't capture their faces, but I wanted to give the impression of a long parade, which cropping would have spoilt.

One more picture in the w/s.

Thanks for looking.
