Photographer's Note

This is the Clyde auditorium better known locally as The Armadillo because of its distinctive shape. It was designed by Norman Foster the British architect who is responsible for, among other things, the dome of the Reichstag in Berlin. Its located right by the River Clyde, just across from the Glasgow Science Centre (which was featured in another one of my photos).

This was taken in a hazy day this March - B&W seemed the obvious choice for a structure like this. I used a red filter to darken the sky a little - it didn't have as dramatic an effect as normal possibly because the sky was hazy so the blues weren't very saturated. I waited for a time of day - mid-afternoon - when the shadows would fall in front of the segments of the buildings. This is a slight crop of the original negative which was scanned with a Minolta Dimage Scan Elite 2 film scanner. Contrast was boosted slightly in PS Elements.
