Photographer's Note
Many moons ago a young Indian gentleman arrived in our town and went to work for a project growing garlic and a host of Indian vegatables as a community enterprise to provide familiar fresh produce to our Gujarati, Bangladeshi and Punjabi communities. He is now the largest independent property developer in the town and owns almost the whole side of one of our key commercial streets and has built offices, accomodation and other commercial properties.
This image just made me think of him ......not hard as the building work going on in the background is his latest project to build a leisure centre at the back of the town's only cinema complex, the largest independent cinema in the UK....which he also owns! The first time I met him I was instantaneously being served with food and champagne....I'd only popped in to ask a question.........
As an answer to that question he leant me a building for six weeks where we ran a project to bring together young people to address cross cultural issues in the town. That project has grown and has now been running for three years but now as a specialist arts and media programme for young people at risk of offending.
I don't often post more abstract images here although in the 80's I was really interested in photographing and abstracting detail and bold colour. What attracted me here was the double reflection (like him, he does something and it doubles) and the shock of reds setting off the blue.....

I like reflects in the cars, there is something of especial : double reflect of the same element. Well seen, Kev. Best regards. Grazyna.

As you say not often we see an abstract post from you. I would be interested in learning more about this project that you mention Kev. I have a program in development that will take policy makers to the UK to look at programs and projects that are working, that address the cross cultural problems that are arising with the youth.

Hi Kev, the reflections are beautifully composed and saturated. But, for me, the inclusion of the building works in the background adds nothing and their tilt and lack of saturation emphasises that. I'd love to see a tighter crop framing just the car. But full marks for trying something a little different. Stephen

Hi Kev,
Une composition qui me plaît beaucoup par son côté abstrait et par la beauté des couleurs. Il faut avoir l'oeil pour déceler de tels clichés.

Hi Kev,
Do you are people driving mirrors? Seeing this shot, it's possible to think "yes". Amazing reflection, by the game played between the curves (yin/yan?), and too by the car surface and its texture. I like too the red background against the general blue.
I read your note, and I'm glad because I've written the previous comment before reading it, and I discover I like exactly what you suggest! Happy coincidence! Very interesting the history. Thanks.
Angel.

Hi Kev,
great reflection of sky view. if you left background objects out of focus or out of composition, it would be better.
best regards and TFS,

Not only it is an intriguing shot, Kev, but with your note, a whole story... "he does something and it doubles" is the key to it. I think you are a kindred spirit, you are like him too. A very creative, beautiful graphic work. Perhaps I would have cropped it just a tiny bit on the left side, because then even the red structures in the back would be "doubles".
But then again, it's of very little importance.
From an icy Ottawa where only ice pellets double... and triple...and quadruple... etc.

I agree with the double reflection. I like the blue of the car resembeling the blue of the sky. It looks like a "sky" painted car here.
the curves are also very nice. the curve the poles make along the car, the curve of the window edge, the curve of the car roof.
all very nice

Kev
I just had to look at the larger image because I couldn't make out the thumbnail! Good clear shot selecting just a close up and it ties in with great notes. If you know the person who polished the car he could be ripe for setting up another business as my car could do with a definite clean this week!
Regards Colin
