Photographer's Note
This is the old Pier in Brighton. Used to be a beautiful place... This is what the taxidriver told me: There were plans to turn the old Pier into a nice chique place with shops and restaurants, but the owners of the newer pier thought they wouldn't be able to handle the competition (the new Pier is quite horrible with gambling machines) so they set the old Pier on fire, twice! While there was no electricity on the Pier anymore.
It's collapsed now (although difficult to tell from this photo) the boardwalk and the main building are not connected anymore. There are courtcases going on about the fire.

Too bad that it still kept in this condition. THey must do something about it. But I am sure that sooner or later this pier will come back to life. A very good and original shot, Femke, we always see only one side of this famous place.

I wondered about the Brighton pier after reading news reports years ago. This is self explanatory. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Femke, I have been away for a while and it's good to be back.
This is a good photo. I like the how it seems to lead us to the sea. Interesting to get the history also.
