Photographer's Note
Before setting off on our camel trek, it was time for a cup of tea. I had several opportunities to observe that the preparation of tea is an important event when in the desert of Jordan, requiring collection of wood, the patience to get a good fire going and a calm, unrushed attitude. In addition to tea leaves, a large amount of sugar is added to the pot so that the finished product is thick and syrupy! These two chaps appeared to take their duties very seriously, and so I felt obliged to try the sweet result – not my usual cup of tea, but nevertheless refreshing in the heat.

Nice showing of the way in which the guys prepare the tea, Susanna. The framing of the scene is quite simple, but most adequate - and their varying postures and white gowns provide a good contrast in front of the colorful textured stone formation. The luminosity of the fire also shows nicely.

Salut Susanna
Very beautiful daily life shot! I like the fire and the man
who wants to boild the tea. The background is also very nice.
The white color of their clothes fit well with the reste of
your photo. Well done.

Hi Susanna,
Nice of you to invite us for a cup of tea (so British!) ;-)
So many wonderful little details to look at and discover in this shot, it's really great! And their white dresses come out so beautifully in this warm, red environment.
Have a nice week-end!

I expect the saving grace for the tea was they didn't ruin it with milk. Very interesting ceremony and very well captured. I enjoy the ambiguity of the man standing; he's dressed in traditional clothes with sunglasses hanging from his pocket.
Excellent contribution in the TE spirit

Bonsoir Susanna,
Excellente prise de vue dans un moment décisif. Les habits blancs des deux hommes se détachent merveilleusement sur ces roches rouges. Photo de qualité très réussie. Compliments !

Hi Susanna,
So many tea rituals around the world. I've never tried tea in the Middle East although I drink a lot of it at home. This December I was in Oman with my friends and we were on our way to photograph the sun going down in the desert. We were kind of lost and asked for directions in a little village. My friends speaks Arabic and we were asked inside to have a cup of tea. I really wanted to see the inside of the house and talk to the people but my other friend wanted to leave to get his Kodak moment in time (sun was about 30min from going under). We never got the Kodak moment and I still regret to put that photo moment higher on the list to a people moment. (: I'm glad you had your tea/ people moment. Regards, Gilbert
